Front cover:
What went well was that the layout and image fits in great
for a college magazine and the yellow puff added a pop of colour. The colour
scheme is really professional and compliments the picture very well also, the
choice of the image and colour scheme is good which fits as college magazine. However,
the improvements that could be made are to make the skyline and ‘star pupils’
more visible as it is hard to read. This could be fixed by changing the colour
and making the size of the font bigger. Colour scheme isn’t noticeable to some
and text isn’t noticeable because of where it has been placed and this could change
by adding a shadow on Photoshop or put an outline on the cover lines and for
the colour scheme I could use a colour that’s already on the image so it’s more
noticeable. Another improvement that needs to be made is that the cover page is
clustered and visually busy and this may be unappealing to some consumers this
could be fixed by taking some cover lines off or space them out evenly. Due to
no colour scheme the puff seems to be out of place visually- to avoid this I could
use a colour of the text of the colour lines for the puff.
Contents
page:
What went well was that the design on the background and the
sharp edges created a professional look. Page allowed the text and images to
stand out and relevant images were added to the magazine. Contents page is
simple and links to the front cover. What I need I improve is that the contents
page looks empty and it’s missing some. I could add a paragraph from the
publisher of the magazine so the audience get a rough idea on what is inside
the magazine. Also, I could add numbers on the images and subheading’s to make
it look less dull.
Seema, although this is fairly brief, you have picked out key strengths and weaknesses, and made targets for improvement, drawing on the audience feedback. Vanessa
